{in}Mercy Phase 2: Learn Mercy>>> Little is much when God is in it

Right now, the most amazing multi-phased Christmas project is going on....
{in}Courage has teamed together with Mercy House to launch {in}Mercy, an ambitious five phase project for Mercy House that will impact an untold number of lives.

If you've read here for any length of time you know that Mercy House has my heart. When I first heard about this ministry on Kristen's blog three years ago I was all in. (This post and this post right here speak of my love for this amazingness.) My love and connection to Mercy House has only grown as I've watched and been a part of its blessings.

This is Mercy House's mission statement: The Mercy House exists to provide alternative options for pregnant girls living in the streets of Kenya. The Mercy House will aid them in education, nutrition, housing, prenatal care, Bible study, counseling and job skills for sustainable living.

That one little statement can't even begin to encompass all the amazing good that Mercy House has done since 2010. In this short span of time, Mercy House has become home to twelve teenage girls and their dozen children. It has become a place of refuge like no other in a place of abject poverty. Mercy House doesn't just help these girls have healthy babies, they care for these little families hearts, souls and minds. They educate, feed, house, care for, counsel and equip these young mothers for a lifetime. They share Christ in the most real, most tangible ways possible- meeting needs, extending mercy and more.

Right now, today- The {in}Mercy Project has launched Phase 2: Learn Mercy.

This phase is to raise the funds necessary to build and expand classroom spaces at Mercy House for education and job training.
According to {in}Mercy: Our home is simply maxed out in space. But there is outdoor space we can use to add a new classroom building & provide a covered awning on the house to expand educational and job skill training spaces.
We are looking to raise $8,500 that will provide two very real needs:
An outdoor awning>>> this will allow for an extended classroom area outside but out of the weather for the girls to study, make jewelry and care for their babies
A permanent classroom>>> which will house a computer lab and skills training area (for sewing machines).

As I've said in past posts-- little is much when God is in it. He can take your small amount and put it with my small amount, and his small amount and hers and theirs until our little bits and pieces fill up and overflow the need.... filling it up completely and making it happen. No matter the amount you give, God will bless it. This isn't a competition, no one sees the amount someone else gave. Remember the woman who put her last two coins in the offering gave more than the richest men there.
AND- I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that joining in the Pure Charity site, you can actually earn money for your favorite charities while you shop at some of your favorite stores. We call that a win/win situation 'round here.

As a homeschooling mama, this phase of the project particularly tugs at my heart. Everyone deserves an education. Everyone deserves a clean, dry, well-equipped classroom to receive that education in. And it's not just for these twelve sweet girls that are currently at Mercy House.... No, it's for the ones who will come after them and for each child born to them. This one little house filled with a dozen girls and a dozen babies has the potential to make life changing impact on an unimaginable number of lives.

Right now I count myself as one changed by Mercy House. What about you? Want to be a part of the change? Live counter-cultural? Give up that fancy latte once a week for the remainder of this project and give the difference to Mercy House? Eat instant oatmeal for breakfast this week instead of buying boxed cereal? Eat one meatless meal this week and give the money you would have spent on the meat to Mercy House?

What one little thing could you give up that would have you give into this great ministry?

I'm positively giddy with excitement at the thought of what God's gonna do these next few weeks as we work to fund each phase of the {in}Mercy project. He's already seen to it that phase one is complete- fully funded within a matter of days. God is doing amazing things and just by giving out of our excess.... say, from our change jar.... we can join in and be a part.

Will you join with me? Will you act justly? Love mercy? And walk humbly?

And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8 NIV
