Hello Fall Cooking!

The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for September 30th  thru October 6th 


Notes: We are now officially in the midst of fall.... the weather even agrees with us, so I am pulling out all the fall recipes- soups and apple desserts and pumpkin-y goodness.... oh the yum! Also- October 1st marks the the first day of Crocktober! Oh yes- we welcome the month with a hearty crock pot meal and another crockpot full of applesauce cooking away all day. Plus Ms. Books has decided that the first day of October should be welcomed with baked apple donuts.... she's baking. I'm not complaining!
New recipe update from last week: Ms. Books made a completely from scratch apple pie for her Daddy using this crust recipe…. DELISH! This is by far the bestest crust ever! Seriously!
From the Garden: The garden is s l o w i n g down. We’ve gathered a bucket of grape tomatoes, yellow pear tomatoes, a dozen mid-sized heirloom tomatoes, a handful of scraggly green beans and a few runt-sized cucumbers for some fridge pickles. Mr. Steady pulled up the green bean and cucumber plants….
And we’re getting 7-8 eggs a day from our lovely ladies.
Food wasted last week: about a dozen apples…. I just haven’t had the time to make my way through the 4+ bushels the Mister picked from the tree at his Mama’s house. Since the apples are free and the ones that have “turned” are being fed to the chickens, this really isn’t a “waste” which makes me happy.

Breakfast: pancake bites with apples and cranberries
Lunch: Diner dinner
Dinner: Crockpot Beef Roast, baked potatoes, homemade dill pickles
Breakfast: Eggs in a basket, sliced apples
Lunch: Diner dinner
Dinner: Slow cooker beef-n-noodles, homemade bread, green beans
Breakfast: Yogurt and fruit parfaits topped with pumpkin granola, toast and jam
Lunch:  egg sandwiches
Breakfast: Choice: cold cereal with milk/ vanilla yogurt with fruit & granola
Lunch: Diner dinner
Dinner: Campbell's Crunchy Mac-n-cheese, sausage, greens salad
Breakfast: Mama’s cheesy scrambled eggs, toast
Lunch: Diner dinner
Dinner:  Soup and sandwiches
Breakfast: Daddy cook (eggs, bacon, toast or waffles or pancakes….)
Lunch: Leftover Smorgasbord
Dinner: Leftover Smorgasbord
Breakfast: Coco Wheats with dried cranberries, toast
Lunch:  Easy Chicken Parmesan, green beans
Dinner: Sunday Snupper (snacks for supper) leftovers or nachos or cereal if its late…

Snacks for the Week:
The snack staples: Oreos and popcorn
Other snacks- salsa & chips, cheese & crackers, trail mix
Fruit for noshing this week: apples, peaches
Desserts we’re hoping I make this week:

Apple Cider Donuts and an apple crumb cake
