Weekly Menu: A bit of summer cookin'

The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for August 19th thru 25th   


 Notes: The weather has been amazing and the garden is producing tomatoes like crazy. We've been using snatches of time in our days to make small batches of our homemade pickles but we still can't keep up with the cucumbers, so we're bestowing them on friends and family. We're getting loads of eggs now so you'll see more egg using recipes on the menu. We just love it when we sit down to a meal and see that most of it came from our very own garden. This is our last official week of summer before we start school so we're soaking it all in with a trip to the beach, a swim day, a camp-out and some campfire cooking.
New recipe update from last week: That chocolate zucchini bunt cake with cream cheese icing was AMAZING! We are so making that again. Perfect moistness!
From the Farmers Market: 6 zucchini (didn’t have enough on hand- yikes!), 1 quart of peaches
From the Garden: grape tomatoes, yellow pear tomatoes, lots and lots of gorgeous colored, yummy tomatoes, a few squash and zucchini and lots of cucumbers for making pickles.
And we’re getting 7-8 eggs a day from our lovely ladies.
Food wasted last week: 3 biscuits. 1 seriously bruised peach

Monday
Breakfast: Mama’s cheesy scrambled eggs, toast
Lunch: Diner dinner
Dinner: Chicken with creamy tomato sauce, steamed green beans, fresh from the garden tomato slices, homemade pickles
Tuesday
Breakfast: Vanilla yogurt with raspberries & peaches
Lunch: Diner dinner
Dinner: homemade biscuits and gravy, baked peaches
Wednesday
Breakfast: Baked egg-n-pancakes (similar to this recipe)
Lunch:  Diner dinner
Dinner: Corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes, BBQ ribs (in crockpot)
Thursday
Breakfast: Yogurt and fruit smoothies, toast and jam
Lunch: Diner dinner
Dinner: take-out pizza
Friday 
Breakfast: Choice: cold cereal with milk/ vanilla yogurt with fruit & granola
Lunch: Diner dinner
Dinner:  with friends- bringing: bacon ranch macaroni salad
Saturday 
Breakfast: egg casserole, fruit, muffins
Lunch: campfire cooking- chili cheese dogs, beans, chips, pickles, triple fudge brownies
Dinner: Leftover Smorgasbord
Sunday
Breakfast: Coco Wheats with dried cranberries, toast
Lunch:  Family reunion- bringing: homemade bread, jam, homemade dill pickles, homemade olive pickles
Dinner: Sunday Snupper (snacks for supper) leftovers or nachos or cereal if its late…

Snacks for the Week:
The snack staples: Oreos and popcorn
Other snacks- chocolate donuts, salsa & chips
Fruit for noshing this week: peaches, strawberries
Desserts we’re hoping I make this week:
Fluffy chocolate donuts, ice cream sundaes, root beer floats
