The day boxed cereal one upped the homemade menu plan

The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for April 22- 28th

Notes: Things are a bit crazy around here and I went a little crazy too. Our grocery store ran a special on their brand of boxed cereal last week- 50% off and I had a coupon.... and so I let the kiddos each pick out their own box of cereal... sheer craziness, I know! I then picked up a couple of boxes of their yummy granola cereal for topping our homemade yogurt because at half off, it was just a tad bit cheaper than me making my favorite granola and it eliminated one more item from my to-do list. 
Here's the thing- being wild and crazy in the cereal aisle created something quite spontaneous and fun for the kiddos and I... cheap fun. Yes, boxed cereal doesn't stick with us as long as a good bowl of homemade oatmeal but we'll beef it up with a couple pieces of toast and some fruit and all will be well. Ms. Books laughed at me and stated, "Mama, you're livin' on the wild side." Breakdown- we purchased 8 (gasp) boxes of cereal for just under $12 ($1.49 per box).
Food wasted last week: 3 whole wheat rolls that got smooshed to the back of the bread box went into the compost, plus 3 strawberries that were at the bottom of the container. What is it about store bought strawberries that causes them to mush in 2 days? I don't even want to think about it.

Breakfast: cold cereal, toast and jam
Lunch: diner dinner
Dinner: @ Nana & Pawpaw's (Nan & Ms. Books cooking together)
Tuesday –Comfort Food Nite
Breakfast: cinnamon rolls, mixed fruit
Lunch:  nachos your way
Dinner: Chicken-n-noodles, bread-n-butter pickles, homemade bread
Breakfast: cold cereal, toast and jam
Lunch:  diner dinner
Dinner: Ranch pork chops with ranch potatoes, steamed green beans, biscuits
Breakfast: Homemade yogurt with fruit and granola
Lunch: Deluxe grilled cheese sandwiches, chips, pickle
Dinner: Easy chicken parmesan, steamed green beans, homemade garlic bread
Breakfast: Eggs in a basket or French toast
Lunch: Diner Dinner
From dinner Friday to dinner on Saturday- we’re on an adventure…..
Breakfast: Coco Wheats with dried cranberries, toast
Lunch:  Rotisserie chicken, macaroni salad, greens salad, biscuits
Dinner: Sunday Snupper (snacks for supper) leftovers or nachos or cereal if its late…

Snacks for the Week:
Oreos (this is a staple), popcorn, homemade yogurt w/ fruit, crazy bread clone & dipping sauce
Fruit for noshing this week: bananas, strawberries
Desserts we’re hoping I make this week:
Boston Cream Pie Poke Cake, Baked chocolate donuts
