The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for October 15th thru 21st
Notes: In honor of Crocktober, we’ll be using our crockpot at least once each week, if not more. The kiddos were listing all their favorite crockpot recipes to have this month and we could just about fill our days with crockpot meals, which is nice to know. I hope to share a new crockpot recipe every week during Crocktober!
We’re making a big pot of mashed potatoes this week (from our $7.99 for 50 lb. bag of potatoes) which allows us to incorporate a couple of great recipes that use leftover mashed potatoes. Yum!
From the Garden: We harvested the last of the tomatoes last week as we had a few days of frost. We brought in a lot of green tomatoes, including a 5 gallon bucket full to the top of cherry tomatoes for Mr. Steady’s famous olive pickles.
Putting up: Twelve quarts and sixteen pints of Olive Pickles were put up by Mr. Steady and the girls on Saturday. That’s triple what he made last year. I’m still hoping to be able to purchase more apples for homemade applesauce as I was only about to make 5 quarts and that won’t go far at all.
