Menu: The garden produces the side dishes this week


The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for September 3rd thru 9th


Notes: First things first- I’m delighted with the new menu plan “icon” on I made. I think it’s stinkin’ cute and ready for fall.
From the Garden: we continue to pick and pick and pick: green and purple beans, loads of heirloom tomatoes, chocolate cherry tomatoes, heirloom squash and zucchini, armloads of cucumbers.
From the Farmer’s Market: potatoes, green peppers
Putting up: we shared a lot of our produce this past week. Ms. Books and I need to make more pickles but the kitchen is so hot right now- we are waiting a couple of days for the predicted cool down. We’re eating the tomatoes up just about as fast as we’re picking them- on salads, sandwiches, and just plain ol’ sliced up with a bit o’ sea salt. Yum.

Monday
Breakfast:  Homemade blueberry oatmeal with brown sugar, toast and jam
Lunch:  Ice Cream! Oh yes, we did! We had ice cream for lunch!
Dinner:  make your own nachos
Tuesday
Breakfast: English muffins topped with pumpkin cream cheese, bananas
Lunch:  honey ham & extra sharp cheddar on wheat, chips, pickles
Dinner:  Chicken-n-noodles, ranch biscuits, homemade pickles, cuke-n-mayo salad
Wednesday
Breakfast:  half a waffle (each- last of the freezer stash), hard-boiled egg, toast and jam
Lunch:  Diner dinner
Dinner:  BLTs with a side of thick sliced heirloom tomatoes (Cherokee Purple, Mr. Strippy, Lincoln) and homemade pickles… and chips if they want them
Thursday
Breakfast:  Yogurt topped with fresh peaches and brown sugar, toast
Lunch:  Diner Dinner
Dinner:  Biscuits and Gravy, hashbrowns, fresh fruit salad
Friday
Breakfast:  Leftover biscuits and gravy, toast
Lunch:  Diner Dinner
Dinner:  Family potluck: bringing- fridge pickles, cuke-n-mayo salad, homemade bread and a dessert of some sort
Saturday 
Breakfast:  Daddy Cooks! – Eggs, bacon, toast
Lunch: Leftover Smorgasbord
Dinner:  Leftover Smorgasbord
Sunday
Breakfast:  Coco Wheats with dried cranberries, toast
Lunch:  Crockpot Beef Stroganoff, biscuits, pickles, steamed green beans, thick sliced tomatoes
Dinner: Sunday Snupper (snacks for supper) leftovers or nachos or cereal if its late…
Beverages for the week:
Milk, Water, coffee, Lemonade, Half & Half-- lemonade & ice tea together, cherry cola (special treat!)
Snacks for the week:
Cookies, fresh fruit- peaches & plums, homemade bread
 Desserts for the week:
Brownies, ice cream…. And brownies topped with ice cream!, Drop in the Buckets
