Mama's laid low- Kids are cooking!

The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for September 17th thru 23rd  

Never work before breakfast; 
if you have to work before breakfast,

Notes: Some of our gardens are ready for their winter naps and we’ll begin some prep on that in a couple of weeks. My zinnias look absolutely wonderful… making me wish I’d planted more and more and just forgot completely about the cosmos… which never really quite took off. The little marigolds we planted have become big beautiful bushy things right at the edge of the garden. Oh how they make me smile. I feel the need to purchase some mums. And pumpkins. It’s time.
Also- I have sprained my ankle and so the kitchen duties for most of this week belong to the kiddos. I think we may be eating a lot of cereal this week.
From the Garden: We continue to bring in baskets and buckets full of the juiciest, best tasting tomatoes. The cucumbers and beans are almost done. Mr. Steady says we have one more squash but that’s it.
From the Farmer’s Market: potatoes, green peppers, squash, peaches, apples
Putting up: Ms. Books and Mr. Steady want to make salsa soon and olive pickles. I want to try my hand at some stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce…. We’ll see…

Breakfast:  cold cereal, toast
Lunch: diner dinner (leftovers of your choice)
Dinner:  open face turkey sandwiches (homemade mashed potatoes), steamed green beans, thick sliced Mr. Stripy tomatoes
Breakfast:  choice: cold cereal, packets of instant oatmeal, toast
Lunch:  honey ham and extra sharp cheddar on wheat, chips, pickles
Dinner:  Shrimp Fettuccini Alfredo, more of those homegrown tomatoes and pickles, ranch biscuits
Wednesday Ladies Day
Breakfast:  homemade oatmeal with fruit, toast
Lunch:  Pulled pork sandwiches on homemade buns, homemade dill pickles, chocolate cherry tomatoes with ranch dip, chips and a special dessert
Dinner:  Crockpot Beef Stroganoff, biscuits, pickles, steamed green beans, thick sliced tomatoes
Breakfast:  Pumpkin cranberry muffins, cherry applesauce
Lunch:  Diner Dinner
Dinner:  Pacos- taco toppings on potatoes [making the potatoes in the crockpot]
Breakfast:  Yogurt with fresh fruit, toast
Lunch:  Homeschool group potluck- Bringing: Boston Cream Pie Poke Cake
Dinner:  French bread pizzas
Breakfast:  Daddy Cooks! – Eggs, bacon, toast
Lunch: Leftover Smorgasbord
Dinner:  DATE NIGHT!!!!
Breakfast:  Coco Wheats with dried cranberries, toast
Lunch: Crockpot Beef and veggie soup, homemade bread
Dinner: Sunday Snupper (snacks for supper) leftovers or nachos or cereal if its late…
Beverages for the week:
Milk, Water, coffee, Lemonade
Snacks for the week:
Cookies, fresh fruit- peaches, popcorn, toast and homemade jam
 Desserts for the week:
Triple fudge brownies, iced cinnamon monkey bread

  1. The cake looks so good! I want to grab my fork but it will just scrap the computer screen!
