Homemade oatmeal, pickles and homegrown 'maters

The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for September 10th thru 16th

Notes: The garden is starting to slow down some. I think the squash may be about done and I gotta say that makes me sad. We planted just enough- without being overrun with the little beasties and now they’re about done. Sniff, sniff. I’ve got a lot socked away shredded and frozen in the freezer but it’s not the same.
Another note-- We’re taking a family road trip later this week…. One of the things I just love about homeschooling is the field trips. Greenfield Village, Henry Ford Museum, Titanic exhibit. WooWee!
From the Garden: The tomatoes are going gang-busters! Loads of heirloom tomatoes, buckets and buckets of chocolate cherry tomatoes, armloads of cucumbers. Two last bucketfuls of green and purple beans.
From the Farmer’s Market: potatoes, green peppers
Putting up: cucumbers are becoming the most wonderfulest of pickles. We’re sharing the tomatoes some… and eating lots and lots. Looking into finding that just right tomato sauce recipe for Ms. Books and I to experiment with…
