Summer's winding down menu


The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for August 27th thru September 2nd  

Notes: Since we’ll be camping this weekend we’ve made every day’s lunch “diner dinner”- which is our fun way of saying- “eat whatever leftovers you want for lunch”. The last few weeks we’ve had some oopsies and wasted food because we weren’t using up leftovers- this is me, trying to be more intentional about such things.
From the Garden: green and purple beans, loads of heirloom tomatoes, chocolate cherry tomatoes, heirloom squash and zucchini, armloads of cucumbers.
From the Farmer’s Market: potatoes, green pepper, peaches
Putting up: blanching and freezing the beans, making pickles and our newest favorite- cucumber & mayo salad, shredding and freezing zucchini… and sharing some of each with friends

Monday
Breakfast:  cereal with milk, toast
Lunch:  Diner dinner
Tuesday First Day of School
Breakfast:  Eggs in a basket, fresh fruit cups, apple hand pies


Lunch:  Diner dinner
Wednesday
Breakfast:  English muffins with pumpkin cream cheese, fresh fruit
Lunch:  Diner dinner
Dinner:  Peppy Mac, greens salad, cucumber & mayo salad
Thursday
Breakfast:  Yogurt topped with fresh peaches and brown sugar, toast
Lunch:  Diner Dinner
Dinner:  Waffles, bacon, fresh fruit
Friday
Breakfast:  yesterday’s leftover waffles
Lunch:  Diner Dinner
Dinner:  Camping- Pacos (taco toppings on baked potatoes)
Saturday 
Breakfast:  Biscuits and Gravy
Lunch: Picnic Lunch! Sandwiches, chips, pickle spears
Dinner:  Camping- cook-out: hot dogs, chips, brownies
Sunday
Breakfast:  Coco Wheats with dried cranberries, toast
Lunch:  Church Potluck: bringing triple fudge brownies
Dinner: Foil Packet dinners- hamburger patties topped with sliced cheese and loads of yummy veggies, wrapped in foil and grilled over a campfire
Beverages for the week:
Milk, Water, tea, iced coffee, Half & Half-- lemonade & ice tea together, cranberry pomegranate juice
Snacks for the week:
Cookies, fresh fruit- peaches & plums & bananas, hard boiled eggs, yogurt cheese & crackers, sliced tomatoes with salt & pepper and drizzled with homemade ranch dressing, pumpkin cranberry muffins
 Desserts for the week:
Cookies, ice cream sundaes, smores
