Laundry Loveliness: Get the Smoke Out

This past week we camped twice. Plus over the course of the week, we sat around three different campfires.
Our laundry room smelled like smoke.
Ms. Books had worn every single hoodie sweatshirt she adores and was in need...
but they all reeked of smoke.
It wasn't that I had mounds of laundry to wash.... just one mound of really stinky, really smokey laundry.

In the old days I would have run all the clothes through the wash twice or more and still smelled it on our clothes....

Today, I implemented my de-funkifying your towels knowledge....

I loaded the washer with smokey clothes and washed like normal on the "quick" cycle.
When the load was finished- I left the clothes in (yes, they still smelled) and did the following:
1 cup baking soda in the detergent compartment
1 cup vinegar in the fabric softener compartment (bonus- it really cleans any gunk left behind by the fabric softener in that compartment)
Wash on normal cycle.

We then hung the clothes out on the line. Nothing like flapping in the fresh air and drying in the sun to get the last of that smoke stink eradicated.

Our sweatshirts smell wonderful.

Side note.... concerning hair: that smoke smell.
