Yippee! A guest post from my sweet #1 Kid- Ms. Books.
We’ve noticed a plethora of ants invading our kitchen and I decided action needed to be taken. My first experiment with an ant trap was just sugar water. While I caught a few, I ended up only attracting more ants! I set up the trap right before bed and put it in the kitchen dish cupboard. Imagine my mom’s surprise the next morning when she opened the cupboard and found well over 50 ants hurry-scurrying all over! My uncle was over visiting and he suggested adding Borax to my homemade ant trap. I immediately made my first concoction. I mostly eyeball my ingredients and my second attempt was way more successful than my first. Within an hour, I had well over 25 ants in my trap. That afternoon, I made a fresh batch and by evening the number of ants we were seeing in the kitchen had greatly reduced in number… and I mean greatly- as in about 6.

Today is day 4 of using my new and improved homemade ant
killing concoction. We haven’t seen any live ants today. Mom is quite happy.
Homemade Ant Killer
2 Tbsp. Borax
2 Tbsp. Sugar
Piece of aluminum foil
Place Borax
in bottom of a see through container (we have used a jar and a jelly glass). Add lukewarm water and stir. Add sugar and
still again.
Sprinkle a bit of sugar on top of water. Do NOT stir. Wet finger and dip in sugar and run finger around outside of container (this entices the ants to come and visit!). Top container with piece of aluminum foil cupping top loosely (make sure it’s loose enough for the ants to get in. Place container in spot you have seen the most ants. Check on your container a few hours later and be amazed at the number of ants you’ve captured!
Repeat as needed, until no more ants are visiting.

Proof! It works!
