Two Girls Baking

While Mama snuck off for an afternoon nap and some quiet time over the weekend, my two girls put on their aprons, plugged in the big ol' KitchenAid mixer and whipped up this batch of gooey sweetness....

Two Sisters Bar Cookies
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 Tbsp vanilla
2 cups flour
3 cups chocolate chips (divided)
1/4 cup peanut butter

Cream together sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla and mix together. Stir in flour until well mixed. Next, add ONE CUP chocolate chips. Spread into a greased 9x9 pan and bake for 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Allow bars to slightly cool, for about 10 minutes, then top with icing (recipe below).

Melt reserved 2 cups chocolate chips with peanut butter in a small saucepan on low heat. Stir constantly. Cook until smooth and melted.

Of Note: You can easily double this recipe for a 9x13 pan but unless you're making them to share- the 9x9 pan is just fine for our sweet tooth family of five. These bars are really rich-- what Mr. Steady and I like to call coffee rich- as in you need a cuppa to wash them down!
