First Menu plan of September

The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for September 5th -11th   

Notes:  5 more pounds of green beans in the freezer. Ms. Books and I are attempting a mini batch of homemade bread and butter pickles this week. I love this time of year- with all the produce coming from the garden (and friends gardens)… and so prolific at farmers markets that the prices are nice and low… we eat well and eat real frugal these days with 2/3 of our meal being homegrown or the next best thing to it.
In the Garden: tomatoes, green beans and more tomatoes
From friend’s gardens: yellow squash
From the farmers market: pickling cucumbers, red and green peppers, nectarines

Monday Family Day
Breakfast:  Homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, hash browns (lots of leftovers)
Lunch:  diner dinner
Dinner:  Hobo dinner with friends
Quick Recipe: Hamburger patties topped with butter,  herbs and your choice of vegetables- wrapped in foil and put in the coals of a good fire… yum!
Dessert: Homemade ice cream!
Tuesday Special Birthday dinner with friends
Breakfast:   Oatmeal with blueberries, toast
Lunch:  Diner dinner 
Dinner:  Four cheese Mostaccioli Bake (from Gooseberry Patch's Dinners on a Dime cookbook), homemade bread, green beans

Wednesday Super Frugal Nite
Breakfast: Homemade yogurt, fresh fruit, toast
Lunch: Diner dinner (we've got loads of leftovers to eat up- need the room in the fridge!)
Dinner:  Curly noodle supper, sliced tomatoes, pickles
Thursday Meatless meal
Breakfast: Yogurt Smoothies, toast and jam
Lunch:  Quesadillas
Dinner:  Campbell’s mac-n-cheese, sliced tomatoes, Mr. Steady’s fridge pickles
Breakfast:  Cereal with fruit
Lunch:  chicken salad on salad, homemade bread
Dinner:  Steak & Veggie Kabobs, tossed green salad
Breakfast: Daddy cook: eggs, bacon & toast
Lunch: Leftover Smorgasbord
Dinner: Leftover Smorgasbord [or nachos]
Breakfast: Coco Wheats w/dried cherries, toast
Lunch:  Potluck at church: bringing:  crockpot creamy beef & potatoes, brownies
Dinner:  nachos, cereal (if late), or other leftovers
Beverages for the week:
Milk, Water, lemonade, tea,  coffee
Snacks for the week:
Cookies, fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, pretzels and hummus, pickles, popcorn
Desserts this week:
Homemade ice cream, crustless pumpkin pie, brownies
Side Note: "Diner Dinner" definition: you pick what you want to eat from the leftovers in the fridge
