Pickles, garden production and the menu

The Yellow Farmhouse Weekly Menu Plan
for August 29th- September 4th  


Notes:  Mr. Steady and I made our very first batch of homemade pickles two weeks ago. They are fabulously yummy! Our freezer is bursting with bags upon bags of yummy goodness- 55 lbs of blueberries, 10 lbs of raspberries, over 20 lbs of corn (frozen fresh off the cob!), 18 lbs of green beans and more are coming… two lbs of shredded zucchini (I know that’s not much!)…

In the Garden: tomatoes, lettuce (not for much longer but planting more), green beans
From friend’s gardens: yellow squash, zucchini, corn
From the farmers market: watermelon, green peppers

Monday
Breakfast:  Homemade yogurt with fresh fruit
Lunch:  diner dinner
Dinner:  Alphabet Dinner
Tuesday
Lunch:  Bologna burgers, chips-n-dip
Dinner:  Hamburger gravy on toast, green beans
Wednesday
Breakfast: Cereal with fruit
Lunch: Quesadillas
Dinner:  Peppy Macaroni, greens salad
Thursday
Breakfast: Yogurt Smoothies, toast and jam
Lunch:  Hotdogs, chips, cottage cheese, chunk cheese
Dinner:  Crockpot sausage-n-egg casserole, fresh fruit
Friday  
Breakfast:  Homemade yogurt with fresh fruit, toast
Lunch:  Diner Dinner
Dinner:  homemade pizza (with this dough!)
Saturday 
Breakfast: Daddy cook: eggs, bacon & toast
Lunch: Leftover Smorgasbord
Dinner: Leftover Smorgasbord [or nachos]
Sunday
Breakfast: Coco Wheats w/dried cherries, toast
Lunch:  Dinner with family- bringing: ??? not a clue
Dinner:  lunch leftovers
Beverages for the week:
Milk, Water, lemonade, juice,  coffee
Snacks for the week:
Cookies, fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, parmesan zucchini sticks, deviled eggs, popcorn
Desserts this week:
Mama’s mud buckets, cookies

  2. Alphabet dinner is our annual back to school nite meal- we sit down and put a food or dinner related item (like plate or napkin or spoon) to each letter of the alphabet. I just did a post on it here: http://acontentedcommonlife.blogspot.com/2011/09/alphabet-its-whats-for-dinner.html
