Consider it a sheer gift

The weather continues to dictate our activities around here...
We're not being very active for the most part.
We continue to read a lot of books...
and watch a lot of videos.
Yesterday was The Apple Dumpling Gang (Special Edition)
Oldies but goodies.
In the evening-- we're working our way through The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition)
Which has lead to good family discussions.
Which I like.

Today is also the end of the summer reading program at the library. We had a wonderful luncheon at the library to close it out, the kiddos all spent their points {earned from reading books} and checked out more books and a couple of videos for these hot, hot days.
We've gone swimming for 10 days straight and I don't see that stopping anytime soon.
Mr. Steady bought another big bucket of ice cream... making shakes every nite for dessert.
Eating yogurt with fresh fruit every morning for breakfast and basically doing everything possible not to have to cook or bake anything at all in the hot, hot, hot kitchen.
We're not hungry during the better part of the day... all of us are getting the munchies at night when we're having our family movie time... we ran out of popcorn last nite.
The kids and I want to make Rice Krispie treats if we can stand the kitchen...
We shall see.
In other news: I'm re-reading the book of James right now as we are studying it in youth group. I'm reading The Message version for a different take and referencing a couple other versions along side it... BibleGateway has been very handy for this.
I leave you with these verses to ponder along side me:
Consider it a sheer gift, friends,
when tests and challenges come at you from all sides.
You know that under pressure,
your faith-life is forced into the open
and shows its true colors.
So don't try to get out of anything prematurely.
Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed,
not deficient in any way.
James 1:2-4
