Recipe cheat sheet secret revealed

How I cheat with Shrimp Alfredo
… This is one of those meals I like to have “on hand” and I do this with my once-a-month-at-most splurge purchase from Schwan’s: Bowtie Pasta Blend.
This is considered a more expensive meal here at the yellow farmhouse as this dish costs just over $9.00… we like our main dish price to hover between $3-5. It’s splurge worthy but can also be made more frugally with chicken or (leftover turkey… we do this after Thanksgiving).
It’s a great go-to meal to have on hand… can be stretched a tad by using the whole bag of pasta blend and adding a bit of milk (about 1/3 cup) to the empty sauce bottle and a healthy dollop of sour cream. So it can become a company meal that looks and tastes fancy but is quick and easy to prepare.

Shrimp Alfredo
¾ bag of Schwan’s Bowtie Pasta Blend
1 Jar Alfredo Sauce
½ bag defrosted frozen mini shrimp
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Pinch of Oregano
Pinch of Italian seasoning

Quick thaw pasta blend by dumping in a colander and running warm water over it… Heat Alfredo sauce and defrosted shrimp in cooking pot, stir in shredded cheese and spices. Cook over medium high heat until mixture begins to bubble then add pasta blend and stir to coat. Let simmer for a few minutes to warm up pasta.
I like to serve this with homemade garlic bread and a nice greens salad.

Noteworthy:
Schwan’s Bowtie Pasta $5.74… use approx. $4.50 worth
Alfredo Sauce from Aldi: Priano Alfredo Sauce 15 oz. $1.69
Purchased my shrimp frozen in a bag (already cooked, peeled and deveined) from Wal-mart: 14 oz. bag small shrimp $5.48… use approx. $2.75 worth
Total cost of this dish: Approximately $9.40
