Late meals and comfort food- Sigh

Another thing I love about homeschooling…
Having a late supper doesn’t matter.
So you can.
So the girls and I can keep on going thru their “stuff”… collecting 5 more bags (4 give away & 1 throw away) towards our 40 bag goal (if you’re counting that’s 19 so far and right on schedule).
And the boys can go out for an evening hike around town.
We stop when we’re done… comfort food for supper. Hamburger Cream Gravy on Toast and green beans. [insert good comfort sigh here]
Sounds like a recipe I need to share with you….

Hamburger Cream Gravy on Toast
1 lb. ground beef (I used ground turkey tonight)
3 tbsp. flour
2 cups milk
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup (optional- yet worth it)
6 slices bread, toasted and buttered
Brown beef in skillet over medium heat. Mix in flour. Continue stirring until flour is browned. Stir in milk. Cook and stir until desired thickness. Ladle gravy onto buttered toast and serve.
Omitting the soup makes this a super cheap meal, but I happen to love the taste and thicker gravy. I purchase my soup at Aldi’s for 59 cents a can so I don’t feel like I’m going too over the top by adding it.
Approximate cost: under $3.00 even with the soup
This delicious gravy can also be served over mashed potatoes or biscuits or noodles.... such possibilities and yet I prefer the simpleness of toast. The others are good to keep in mind as a different way to use up leftovers though.
